I was tired of searching for charging cables and USB chargers. So I bought an IKEA Skadis and an Anker PowerPort 10 (60W 10-Port USB Charger) and fixed the issue once and for all!
I’ve also put all AA and AAA batteries into nice little containers so all things battery-related is now in one place.

Auch für Beyond the Veil gibt es eine zweite Stimme im Solo. Here we go!
Da sich die erste Stimme in der Tonhöhe ganz beträchtlich nach oben schraubt, packe ich mal besser ne Terz drunter. Passt.
Beim Tapping-Teil war ich mir nicht so sicher, dass ‘ne Terz passt, bzw. wollte ich das coole Tapping-Muster beibehalten und bleibe deshalb eine Quinte unter der ersten Stimme.
Terzen sind hier wieder die sichere Bank. Die zweite Stimme folgt der ersten eins zu eins.
So, Quinte hatten wir schon. Was eignet sich noch zur eleganten Harmonisation?
Jup, genau Quarten gehen auch! Hört mal in die alten Scorpions-Klassiker rein.

The chords are exclusively power chords. Root and fifth. Let’s take them apart:

Two accidentals indicate D major and B minor. Since the B powerchord is in the center of action we assume B minor.
Upbeat is the first round. As you know now, you always attract more attention with an upbeat
than if you start on the 1 of the first bar. Word!
Our first motif consists mainly of triplets.
Quarter triplets are great for relaxed soloing even at high speed and still get an interesting motif.
Now the cow flies! This little tapping lick consists of 6 notes and is repeated 5 times. This creates a cool accent shift.
This is where Accent Shifting comes in. At count time 3 in bar 9, a treat is waiting for us. A tapped bend.
How does it work? You tap the 22nd fret and then pull the string with both the tapping finger and the grabbing hand.
We repeat the motif from the beginning, but one octave higher.
In bar 12 we add a bending and play the triplet staccato down to bring in some variety.
The tapping idea is also repeated, but the ending is a bit simplified because the fretboard is unfortunately already at its end.
Once again, a tapped bending at the end.

Beyond the Veil oder “Hinter dem Schleier” bedeutet, dass oft Kräfte am Werk sind, die wir nicht direkt wahrnehmen können, die im Hintergrund wirken und sich uns erst sehr spät offenbaren, wenn überhaupt. Die Illuminaten, die Bilderberger, New World Order.
Manchmal ist aber nur Hanlons Rasiermesser am Werk: „Schreibe nicht der Böswilligkeit zu, was durch Dummheit hinreichend erklärbar ist“
Die Akkorde sind ausschließlich Powerchords. Grundton und Quinte. Die nehmen wir mal auseinander:

Zwei Vorzeichen deuten auf D-Dur bzw. H-Moll hin.
Da der H5 Powerchord deutlich im Fokus steht, gehen wir hier von H-Moll aus.
Auftaktig geht es in die erste Runde.
Wie ihr unlängst wisst, erzeugt ihr mit einem Auftakt immer mehr Aufmerksamkeit, als wenn ihr erst auf der 1 des ersten Taktes anfangt. Word!
Unser erstes Motiv besteht hauptsächlich aus Triolen.
Vierteltriolen sind prima, um auch bei hohem Tempo entspannt zu solieren und trotzdem ein interessantes Motiv zu bekommen.
Jetzt fliegt die Kuh! Dieses kleine Tappinglick besteht aus 6 Noten und wird 5 mal wiederholt.
Dadurch entsteht eine coole Akzentverschiebung.
Mit Accent Shifting geht es hier auch gleich weiter. Bei Zählzeit 3 in Takt 9 wartet ein Schmankerl auf uns.
Ein getapptes Bending. wie funktioniert das?
Ihr tappt am 22. Bund und zieht dann sowohl mit dem Tappingfinger
als auch mit der Greifhand die Saite.
Wir wiederholen das Motiv vom Anfang, jedoch eine Oktave höher.
In Takt 12 bringen noch ein Bending unter und spielen die Triole abwärts staccato, um etwas Abwechslung reinzubringen.
Auch die Tapping-Idee wird wiederholt, allerdings ist der Abschluss etwas vereinfacht, weil das Griffbrett leider schon zu Ende ist. Auch hier zum Schluss ein getapptes Bending.

The first triplet or the tapped notes are harmonized in fourths (D-G, E-A, A-D), followed by diatonic thirds (C-E, B-D, A-C)
Here, too, we continue with thirds, whereby we must make sure that we have A Dorian (A-B-C-D-E-F#-G) in bar 3 and,
of course, minor (A-B-C-D-E-F-G) in bar 4 A
The final arpeggio of the second voice is in this case also a third higher and is, therefore, an Em7 arpeggio (E-G-B-D).

Auch hier geht es mit Terzen weiter, wobei wir darauf achten müssen, dass wir in Takt 3 A Dorisch (A-H-C-D-E-Fis-G)
und in Takt 4 A natürlich Moll (A-H-C-D-E-F-G) haben
Das Abschluss-Arpeggio der zweiten Stimme ist in diesem Fall auch eine Terz höher und ist folglich ein Em7-Arpeggio (E-G-H-D).

For the second part, the rhythm is simply duplicated.
Harmoniously we put a diatonic third underneath, that almost always works.
The sweeping part is just doubled. After that we use diatonic thirds underneath the first voice again.
At the end we turn the tables and the second voice plays the thirds above the first voice.

Für die zweite Stimme wird einfach der Rhythmus dupliziert.
Harmonisch packen wir hier eine diatonische Terz drunter, dass funktioniert eigentlich fast immer.
Bei den Sweeps haben wir einfach gedoppelt, um dann bei den Vierteltriolen wieder Terzen unter die erste Stimme zu legen.
Am Schluss drehen wir den Spieß um und die zweite Stimme spielt die Terzen über der ersten Stimme.
